1. Cookie Policy

This policy refers to the cookies and web pages operated by S.C. Big Fish Articole de Pescuit & Nada S.R.L., with the registered office in Bucharest, 132 Soseaua Iancului street, bldg. 121A, entrance A, 5th floor, app. 12, District 2, (hereinafter called BigFish.ro).

2. What are Cookies?

A Cookie is a small-sized file, made of letters and numbers, that will be stored on the computer, mobile terminal or other equipment of a user from which internet is accessed. The Cookie is set up by the request issued by a web-server to a browser (e.g.: Internet Explorer, Chrome) and it is completely “passive” (it does not contain software, viruses or spyware and it cannot access the information on the user’s hard driver).

3. What are Cookies used for?

These files make possible the recognition of the user’s terminal and the presentation of the contents in a relevant way, adapted to the user’s preferences. Cookies provide a pleasant browsing experience to users and support the efforts of Big Fish to offer comfortable services to users: e.g.: – preferences in terms of online confidentiality, shopping basket or relevant publicity. Also, they are used to prepare aggregated anonymous statistics that help us understand how a user benefits from our web pages, allowing us to improve their structure and contents, excluding the user’s personal identification.

4. What Cookies are we using?

We are using two types of Cookies: per session and fixed. The latter are temporary files which remain in the user’s terminal until the session ends or until the application is closed (of the web browser). Fixed files remain on the user’s terminal for a while, in the Cookie parameters or until they are manually deleted by the user.

5. How are cookies used by this website?

A visit to this site may place cookies for:
• Site performance cookies
• Visitor analysis cookies
• Geo-targetting cookies
• Registration cookies
• Advertising cookies
• Advertisers’ cookies

6. Do Cookies contain personal data?

Cookies in themselves do not require personal data to be able to be used and, most of the time, they do not identify internet users personally. The personal data collected by using Cookies may be collected only to facilitate certain functionalities for the user. Such data is encrypted in a way that makes it impossible for unauthorized persons to access it.

7. Deletion of Cookies

In general, an application used to access websites allows Cookies to be saved implicitly on the terminal. These settings may be changed in such a way that the automatic management of Cookies is blocked by the web browser or that the user may be informed every time Cookies are sent to his/her terminal. Detailed information about the possibilities ad manners to manage Cookies may be found in the setting area of the application (of the web browser). The limitation to use Cookies may affect certain functionalities of the web page.

8. Why are cookies important of the Internet?

Cookies are the core of the efficient operation of Internet, helping to generate a friendly browsing experience, adapted to the preferences and interests of each user. The refusal or disabling of cookies may make certain sites impossible to use.
The refusal or disabling of cookies does not mean that you will stop receiving online advertisements – but this will no longer take into account your preferences and interests, that you highlight through your browsing behavior.
Examples of important uses of cookies (that do not require the authentication of a user through an account):
• Contents and services adapted to the user’s preferences – categories of products and services.
• Offers adapted according to the users’ interests – password remembering.
• Preservation of children protection screens in terms of Internet contents (family mode options, safe search functions).
• Limitation of the frequency to broadcast commercials – limit the number of displays of a commercial for a certain user on a certain site.
• Provision of advertising which is more relevant for the user.
• Measurement, optimization and analytics features – such as the confirmation of a certain level of traffic on a website, what type of contents is seen and the manner how a user reaches a website (e.g. by research engines, directly, from other websites, etc.). Websites carry out these analyses of their use to improve sites to users’ benefit.

9. Security and issues related to confidentiality

Cookies are NOT viruses! They use plain text formats. They are not made of pieces of code, so they cannot be executed and they cannot be self-run. Consequently, they cannot be doubled or replicated on other networks to be able to run or replicate once more. Because they cannot fulfill these functions, they cannot be considered viruses.
Cookies may however be used for negative purposes. Because they store information about the users’ preferences and browsing history, both on a certain website, and on many more other sites, cookies may be used as a form of Spyware. Many anti-spyware products are aware of this fact and they constantly mark the cookies to be deleted during deletion/ anti-virus/anti-spyware scanning procedures.
In general, browsers have confidentiality settings integrated, that provide various levels of cookie acceptance, the period of validity and automatic deletion after the user visited a certain site.
Other security aspects related to cookies:
because the protection of identity is very valuable and it represents the right of every internet user, it is indicated to know what possible problems cookies may create. Since they are a means to constantly transmit, both ways, information between browser and website, if an attacker or unauthorized person intervenes during the data transmission, the information included in the cookie may be intercepted.
Although very rarely, this may happen if the browser is connected to the server using a non-encrypted network (e.g.: a non-secured WiFi network).
Other cookie-based attacks involve wrong settings of cookies on servers. If a website does not ask the browser to use only encrypted channels, the attackers may use this vulnerability to fool the browsers into sending information through the non-secured channels. The attackers then use the information to access certain sites in an unauthorized manner. It is very important to be careful when choosing the most appropriate method to protect your personal information.

Advice for a safe and responsible browsing, based on cookies.
Thanks to their flexibility and to the fact that the majority of the most visited and biggest websites are using cookies, they are almost inevitable. The disabling of cookies will not allow the user’s access to the most spread and used sites, among which Youtube, Gmail, Yahoo and others.
Here are some pieces of advice that may assure you that you are browsing without any worries by means of cookies:
• Customize your browser settings as regards cookies, to reflect a comfortable level of cookie usage security for you.
• If cookies do not bother you and if you are the only person who uses the computer, you may set long expiry terms to store the browsing history and the personal access data history.
• If you share the access to the computer, you may consider setting the browser to delete individual browsing data every time you close the browser. This is one variant to access the sites that place cookies and to delete any visiting information at the end of the browsing session.
• Set up and constantly update antispyware applications.
Many of the spyware detection and prevention applications include the detection of attacks on sites. Thus, they prevent the browser from accessing websites that could exploit the browser’s vulnerabilities or that could download dangerous software.
Make sure that your browser is always updated.
Many of the attacks based on cookies are made by exploiting the weaknesses of the older browser versions.
Cookies are everywhere and they cannot be avoided if you wish to enjoy accessing the best and biggest Internet sites – local or international. With a clear understanding of their operation manner and of their benefits, you may take the necessary security measures so that you may navigate the Internet with all confidence.
The disabling and refusal to receive cookies may make certain sites impracticable or difficult to visit and use. Also, the refusal to accept cookies does not mean that you will no longer receive/see online advertisements.
It is possible to make a setting from the browser to stop accepting these cookies or you may set the browser to accept cookies from a certain website. But, for instance, if you are not registered using cookies, you will not be able to comment.
All modern browsers provide the possibility to change cookie settings. These settings are usually found in your browser’s “options” or “preference” menu.
