Brandul IMA a fost lansat in Japonia in 1998, cucerind piata pescuitului de apa sarata de pe mal prin lansarea modelului Komomo SF-125, o naluca ce evolueaza foarte aproape de suprafata, la aproximativ 30 de cm. Pescarii japonezi au realizat rapid eficienta modelului Komomo, acesta devenind una dintre cele mai bine vandute naluci din Japonia.
