Seabass fishing is one of the most popular types of spinning fishing worldwide. In Japan, seabass fishing is highly regarded, and the skill of local anglers reaches a whole new level in every aspect of this fishing style.

The Japanese company Ima has developed a series of lures, each adaptable to any bottom morphology, current, and depth conditions. Ima’s recommendation for seabass fishing in relatively deep areas, when the fish move close to the bottom, is the Ataru lure. This sinking minnow has a very compact body and, thanks to two internal moving weights, allows for extremely long casts.

The wide lip is designed to enable diving depths between 1 and 1.5 meters. A special feature of this lure is its changing action depending on retrieval speed. At slow retrieves, it produces a smooth and calm rolling motion, while at higher speeds it creates a wide wobbling that usually provokes strikes even from the most cautious fish. If you retrieve quickly with pauses, using a Stop 'n Go pattern, the IMA Ataru moves side to side in a zig-zag motion.
